The terms may sound unfamiliar at first, so we explain them step by step, starting with the structure of the skin.

The skin is made up of the epidermis (the outer layer of the skin) on the outside and the dermis (the inner layer of the skin) on the inside. The dermis is the layer involved in the thickness and elasticity of the skin.

The tissue bank (an institution that processes and stores human tissue) is Hans Biomed.

Cell Re DM (CELLREDM) product video

Cell Re DM is not a product approved as a medical device. It is human tissue made by processing donated human tissue, and it is managed through a tissue bank.

As for the form in which the product is supplied and how it is prepared and injected,

What is acellular allogeneic dermis (ADM)?

The name is long and may feel difficult, so we start by explaining what it means.

Mechanism

Acellular allogeneic dermis (ADM, human dermis with the cells removed) is a material made by removing the cells from donated human skin and leaving the extracellular matrix (ECM, the structural component inside the skin) of the dermis. Cell Re DM is a product in which this material is made into small particles and injected into the skin. The purpose is to supplement the structural components inside the skin.

In simple terms — The cells are removed from donated skin, leaving only the net-like component that supports the skin. Cell Re DM is a product intended to break that component into fine pieces and place it in the skin.

02

How do Cell Re DM and Re2O differ?

The names and the materials look alike, so it is natural to be confused.

The two products have the same classification. Both are human tissue products made by processing donated human skin tissue.

How does Cell Re DM differ from other skin boosters?

Its material and classification differ from medical device skin boosters such as Rejuran. Cell Re DM is human tissue made from donated human skin tissue, and Re2O is in the same classification.

Cell Re DM (CELLREDM) product packaging

This is not a matter of which is superior. They differ only in what they are made of and in the government's classification.

Putting what each is made of side by side makes the difference clear at a glance.

What changes when something is classified as human tissue?

Medical devices used as skin boosters are approved product by product by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. So each product has its own approved intended use.

Because this is about regulation it may feel dry, but it is information you need to make an informed decision, so we explain it briefly.

Human tissue is not approved by reviewing the efficacy of each product the way medical devices are. Instead, the tissue bank that handles the tissue receives approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and donor testing and the processing and storage procedures are managed under oversight.

Before the procedure, we explain that Cell Re DM is a product that comes from human tissue and obtain your consent.

We also keep a record of which tissue was used for whom.

I hear Cell Re DM is donated human tissue, and I'm worried

Cell Re DM is a product made by a government-approved tissue bank that processes donated skin tissue. Even so, you should know that it comes from human tissue before you decide.

It is natural to feel concerned by the words "human tissue."

Human tissue as defined by law includes bone, cartilage, fascia, skin, amniotic membrane, ligaments, tendons, heart valves, and blood vessels, and skin is included. A tissue bank is an institution that has facilities and equipment and has received approval from the Minister of Food and Drug Safety. By law, tissue that is infected, or suspected of being infected, with a communicable disease such as hepatitis B or C, syphilis, or acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) may not be distributed or transplanted.

The tissue bank that processed Cell Re DM is Hans Biomed.

Donor testing and processing and sterilization are procedures meant to reduce the risk of transmitting infection.

How are donor testing and processing done?

The Cell Re DM instructions for use state that the following items are checked in donor screening tests.

  • Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) antibody and nucleic acid amplification test (NAT)
  • Hepatitis B (HBsAg, HBV NAT, anti-HBc)
  • Hepatitis C (anti-HCV, NAT)
  • Syphilis test

The raw tissue is collected in the United States, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, and South Korea.

The Cell Re DM instructions for use state, "In donor screening and processing, strict regulations are applied, so the risk of transmitting infectious agents is low, but a possibility may exist."

Before the procedure, we explain this and obtain your consent. Please feel free to ask at the consultation if you have further questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What can you expect from Cell Re DM, and what is hard to expect?

What we expect from Cell Re DM is the supplementing of structural components inside the skin. We do not entrust Cell Re DM with lifting sagging areas or filling hollow areas.

This is something we want you to know before receiving it, so we make it clear first.

Cell Re DM is human tissue. Human tissue is not approved by reviewing the efficacy of each product the way medical devices are. For that reason, we do not promise the effects of Cell Re DM in numbers or in a time period.

The concerns below are difficult to expect to be addressed with Cell Re DM. We have also listed the pages with the appropriate information.

ItemDetails
Number of sessions
Interval

If you have an event such as a gathering or a photo shoot, please tell us at the consultation. Redness or swelling may be present right after the procedure, so it is best to set the date with some time to spare before the event.

What side effects can Cell Re DM cause? When should I contact you?

Because it is placed by injection, bruising, swelling, lumps that can be felt, and allergic reactions can occur. Rarely, if the injected material enters a blood vessel, the skin can be damaged or vision problems can occur.

  • Granuloma (an inflammatory lump that forms when the body recognizes something as a foreign substance)
  • When the injected material enters a blood vessel
  • Transmission of infection through donated tissue (very rare)

Do not wait in these cases

The changes below are ones you should tell us about without waiting until your next visit.

If something after the procedure feels wrong, do not endure it alone.

  • When your vision suddenly becomes unclear or looks abnormal
  • When the skin color of the treated area changes
  • When the pain becomes severe
  • When you have a fever
  • When only one side becomes severely swollen or red
  • When bruising or swelling does not decrease and gradually worsens
  • When hives appear or itching is severe
  • When a lump stays the same or grows after a week
  • When a new lump can be felt after some time has passed, or the area becomes red and swollen

If your vision suddenly becomes unclear, do not wait, regardless of clinic hours, and go to the emergency room.

If you develop hives all over your body, are short of breath, or your lips or throat swell, call 119 or go to an emergency room.

A Word from the Doctor

"…The procedure itself is important, but sufficient follow-up care after the procedure is also important. In a way, you could say that what comes after surgery is even more important."

Precautions After Cell Re DM Treatment

  • On the day of the treatment, it is best to avoid saunas, jjimjilbang (Korean bathhouses), strenuous exercise, and alcohol.
  • If bruising appears, apply a cold compress for the first few days, and keep the area warm after that.

As for when you can wash your face and wear makeup,

No. Cell Re DM is a product whose packaging is labeled as human tissue. Filler is used to fill the volume of hollow areas. We do not use Cell Re DM for filling volume.

Which is better, Cell Re DM or Re2O?

We cannot say that either one is better. The two products fall into the same human tissue classification. The confirmed differences are the tissue bank and the packaging specifications. Cell Re DM is from Hans Biomed, and Re2O is from L&C Bio. Which one to consider is decided at the consultation after looking at your skin condition.

Is Cell Re DM the same as hyaluronic acid filler?

No. It is a human tissue product made by processing donated human skin tissue. For that reason, it is difficult to dissolve it with the drug that dissolves hyaluronic acid filler.

How long do the effects of Cell Re DM last?

We do not state a set period. Cell Re DM is human tissue, and human tissue is not approved by reviewing the efficacy of each product the way medical devices are. We explain this at the consultation after looking at your skin condition.

Can I have Cell Re DM together with surgery?

It depends on the type of surgery. In some cases it is done on the same day, and in others on separate days. The criteria are given in Can skin boosters and surgery be done together?
